The identification form for container hire
Do you collect full containers from customers and take the waste to a processor? Then every run in Flanders needs a digital identification form. Here is how to handle it smoothly, container by container.

Container hire is collection
A company that places containers, collects full ones and takes the waste to a processor or sorting facility usually acts as a collector (IHM). As the hire company, you then draw up the identification form in an OVAM-approved system.
The small-business exemption does not apply here: it only covers businesses transporting their own waste themselves. If you collect the container, a digital form is needed — even if your customer is a small contractor.
What data belongs to a container run?
For each transport you record, among other things:
- Your customer as the waste producer, with company number
- The shipping address, for example the site where the container stood
- The carrier and the processor's facility
- The EURAL code and description of the waste, for example 17 09 04 for mixed construction and demolition waste
- The quantity per waste type, in tonnes, and the treatment method (R or D code)
Construction waste in containers
Many containers go to building sites. In Flanders, extra rules apply on top of the e-IDF: fractions such as inert rubble, wood, metal and plaster must be kept separate, mixed collection is only allowed under the 40 m³ rule, and zero tolerance applies to hazardous waste and asbestos cement. A clear EURAL code per container avoids discussions at the processor.
How it works in FormDesk
FormDesk is built for many forms per day:
- Create customers once via their company number; the KBO fills in the details
- Record sites without an address via GPS coordinates
- Create a form per container run with the right EURAL code
- Your driver works on the road in the FormDesk Driver App
- Customer and processor receive a signing request by email
- The data also feeds your quarterly MATIS reporting
What does it cost per container?
€0.12 per form, no subscription. With 400 container runs a month, that is €48 a month, regardless of how many drivers or staff use FormDesk.
Workflow
From placement to processing
Record customer and site
Create the customer via their company number and record the site, using GPS coordinates if needed.
Form at collection
Create the form for the run to the processor, with EURAL code and quantity, and have it signed before departure.
Hand-over and receipt
The driver registers the hand-over and the processor confirms receipt. The form is archived automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Container hire and the e-IDF
If, as the hire company, you act as a collector taking the waste to a processor, you draw up the form. Your customer is the waste producer on the form.
Every transport subject to the identification requirement needs an identification form. For container hire, that usually comes down to one form per container run to the processor.
In FormDesk you record the location via GPS coordinates; these are converted into a standardised address on the form.
No, not when you collect the container. That exemption only applies when the small business takes its own waste to a collection point itself.
